How Our Clinical Services Work

Curigo Pharma provides pharmacist-led private healthcare services.

At launch, Curigo Pharma's treatment services will operate under appropriate Patient Group Directions (PGDs).

Every request for treatment is clinically assessed. A pharmacist will review the information provided during the consultation, including relevant medical information, and assess the patient's eligibility for treatment against the requirements of the relevant PGD.

All PGD services will be provided by an appropriately qualified and authorised pharmacist who is also a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Treatment will only be supplied where the pharmacist is satisfied that the patient meets the requirements of the relevant PGD and that treatment is safe and clinically appropriate.

Where a patient does not meet the requirements of the relevant PGD, treatment will not be supplied under that PGD and the patient will be advised of the appropriate next steps.

What is a Patient Group Direction (PGD)?

A Patient Group Direction (PGD) is a legal framework that allows an appropriately qualified and authorised healthcare professional to supply specified medicines to eligible patients who meet the defined requirements of the PGD, without the need for an individual prescription.

Treatment under a PGD is only supplied where the patient meets the requirements of the relevant PGD and the pharmacist is satisfied that treatment is clinically appropriate.

Independent Prescribing

Curigo Pharma will not initially provide treatment through an independent prescribing service.

The pharmacist providing Curigo Pharma's PGD services is also a qualified Pharmacist Independent Prescriber.

Independent prescribing may be introduced for appropriate services in the future. Before any independent prescribing service is introduced, Curigo Pharma will ensure that the service operates within the applicable legal, professional and regulatory requirements and that the relevant information about the prescribing service and prescriber is clearly displayed on this website.
